President of Poland Honors Mentor Graphics Chief Scientist
WILSONVILLE, Ore.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Nov. 19, 2003—
Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq:MENT) today
announced that the chief scientist and director of engineering for the
company's Design-for-Test (DFT) product group, Janusz Rajski, Ph. D.,
has been awarded the prestigious title of "Professor of Science," the
highest research degree in Poland. The award was presented to Dr.
Rajski by the President of the Republic of Poland, Aleksander
Kwasniewski, at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw, on Nov. 5.
Dr. Rajski is the principal inventor of the Embedded Deterministic
Test (EDT(TM)) technology and architect of the revolutionary Mentor
Graphics DFT product based on this technology, TestKompress(R). He
received this honor for his "fundamental contributions in the area of
design and test of digital circuits and systems."
"This great honor is a recognition of the entire school of thought
that my students, associates and collaborators helped create over the
years," said Dr. Rajski. "It is a credit to the collaboration between
academia and the industry and a tribute to research philosophy that
intends to be academically excellent and industrially relevant."
A well-respected scientist in his field, Dr. Rajski has published
more than 100 research papers, several of which have won awards at
international engineering conferences, and is a co-inventor of 12 U.S.
patents. Dr. Rajski received a master's degree in electrical
engineering from the Technical University of Gdansk, Poland, and a
doctorate degree in engineering from the Technical University of
Poznan, Poland.
"We are proud to have such a distinguished technology expert as a
member of our senior engineering staff," said Gregory K. Hinckley,
president of Mentor Graphics. "Janusz has developed some key DFT
products and technologies that have made Mentor the technology leader
in manufacturing test."
From 1973 to 1984, Dr, Rajski was a member of the faculty at the
Technical University of Poznan. In June 1984, he joined McGill
University, Montreal, Canada, where from 1989 he was an Associate
Professor. Dr. Rajski joined Mentor Graphics Corporation, Wilsonville,
Ore. in 1995 to lead research and development efforts of next
generation DFT technologies. As Chief Scientist and Director of DFT
Engineering, Dr. Rajski's research specialties include design
automation and testing, design for testability, built-in self-test
(BIST), and logic synthesis. He is a co-author of a book on BIST and
served as a member of the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA)
Roadmap Working Group on Design and Test and on the Technical Advisory
Board of Design Sciences of the Semiconductor Research Consortium.
